English - WALT: Invent a character for a cautionary poem

Read through the poem Alice Spode and look for features. What is different about this poem compared with the others we have looked at?

Make notes on the poem to show these three sections:

1. A brief description of the foible and hint of consequences;

2. A particular time where the foible causes terrible events to unfold;

3. The reaction of others/the moral stated.

Read Cautionary Characters. See if you can think of any other modern-day characters that could be added to this list.

·       Use the Character Challenge and invent modern-day characters who could be included in Cautionary Tales. Write some lines about these characters.

       Start to plan a modern cautionary poem using the planning sheet.
