WALT: Write a story based on a map

Frank Cottrell-Boyce, who was the author we saw at the Literature Festival, loves using maps as a stimulus for his books.

Have a go at sketching your own map, then write a story about it. I have bought a copy of his latest book, Noah's Gold, as a prize for the most creative map and story.

Success criteria

I have:

  • Sketched a unique map which matches the story
  • Used a wide range of adjectives and adverbs
  • Described a setting in detail
  • Included an imaginative dilemma
  • Thought of a suitable story ending

Please bring the maps and stories with you when you return to school.

Good luck!
