We will discuss the content of the lesson during the morning Zoom meeting.

First, look at the first sheet and try to think about what the missing words could be. Next, read through the poem and make a list of any difficult words. Look them up in a dictionary to find the definitions.

What do you think the poem is about?

Have a go at the 5 comprehension questions.

In class, we are going to try to perform the poem. If you would like to have a go at this, please do. I would love to see some examples!

Outdoor Classroom

This week’s outdoor challenge is to make Mini Toy Shelters!

The best way to make a shelter is to use your imagination!

If you would like a little help getting started, I would suggest first thinking about which toy you would like to create your shelter for. This will determine the size of sticks you will need.
When you have gathered lots of sticks, start by creating a tripod using three sticks of similar lengths and an elastic band.
Here’s how to create your tripod...
๐ŸŒฟFirst take two sticks.
๐ŸŒฟSlot you elastic band between the first two sticks (the crocodile mouth ๐ŸŠ)
๐ŸŒฟ Then wind the elastic band around both sticks until it is tight.
๐ŸŒณ This is the best method of securing two sticks together!
๐ŸŒฟ You can then add the third stick using the same method.
๐ŸŒฟ Now you have the main skeleton for your shelter and you can lay more sticks around it, building it up.
๐ŸŒณ The more sticks you add, the sturdier your shelter will become!

You can also add any leaves/grasses or anything else you can find in your local area to make it look more interesting ๐ŸŒธ

You could even challenge yourself to try and make your shelter waterproof ๐Ÿ’ง

Please send me photos of your shelters as I love to see examples of your outdoor learning at home!

See you all at 9am!

Take care,

Mr Smith
