Extra Challenge

Times Table Rock Stars

English - WALT: Compare travel texts

·    Look at the Algeria Factfile that comes from an atlas and is about the African country, Algeria. What sort of writing is this? Why do you think it has been written this way?

·       Read the Algeria Article from Lonely Planet Kids Travel Book. This is about the same country. How is it different to the first text about Algeria? Look our for longer sentences; descriptive language (‘mighty’, ‘iconic’); personalised style (‘you could fit’, ‘If you want to see’); informality (‘doddery’) and jokes (‘not at the same time’).

·       Which of the two texts is the most interesting to read and which is the easiest to find facts?

·       Use the Research Grid to make notes about a chosen country in South America. Use atlases, travel books and the internet: https://www.roughguides.com/destinations, https://www.lonelyplanet.com/places

Computing -WALT: Stay safe online

I will talk you through this afternoon's activities during the afternoon Zoom meeting. The instructions are on the slides.
