English - WALT: Plan a discussion text.

Look at the Skateboard Discussion (see resources).

Think about the paragraph organisation; the ambitious vocabulary; the use of facts and the use of adverbials to build cohesion. Highlight and annotate your copy to show the features.

This is discussion writing. It presents both sides of an argument. We shall be writing discussion pieces about the question of books and technology. You can choose your own topic for discussion if you wish.

Discussion Planning Sheet (see resources). Read the question and talk through how to identify possible stakeholders for this question before thinking about pros and cons and researching relevant facts.

Start to plan your discussion using the discussion phrases.

Resources

Tomorrow, we will use these plans to write a discussion text.

Quiet Reading

Find a good book and somewhere comfortable to sit. Spend at least 20 minutes reading independently.

CPSHE - WALT: Understand the difference between mental and physical health

Think about mental health and mental illness. What does it mean to you? Think about what you look like when you are well? How would you describe good mental health? What does being healthy mean to you?

On the sheet below, think about as many examples of positive signs of physical and mental health as possible.

Positive examples

On this sheet, write down as many examples of negative signs of physical and mental health as possible.

Negative examples

Physical Health might be a person exercising compared to Mental Health where a person may simply be happy with their friends.

Wellbeing Task

As it is Mental Health Week, I would like you to spend some time on a task of you choice.

Please send me examples of what you done.

See you all at 9am!

Take care,

Mr Smith
